Item Impacts of intensified water pumping on the aquifer and wetlands in a region of the Southern Mediterranean(Université Badji Mokhtar Annaba, 2025-06-24) HANI, Azzedine; HANI, S.; BOUGHERIRA, N.; CHAFFAI, H.; DJABRI, L.In addition to the interest it represents for the water supply of populations, the dune massif of Bouteldja (Algeria) offers a place of wintering and nesting for many species of birds and for the development of flora of internationally recognized wealth. This site is today subject to progressive anthropogenic pressure which is becoming worrying. Indeed, the continuous exploitation of nearly fifty boreholes has led to a deterioration in water quality and has negatively influenced the hydrodynamic balance of the aquifer. It also resulted in a reduction in spring flows and the appearance of salty wedges, threatening even in the short term and the exploitation of the aquifer and the proper functioning of wetlands (Samraoui and de Belair 1998). In this study, we attempted to use a hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive model: - To assess the condition of water resources, - identify sectors vulnerable to marine intrusion, and - identify the factors responsible for the reduction in flow rates from the main sources and the reduction in the surface area of wetlands in the regionItem Assessment of the NPI index, in Algerian bottled water(Université Badji Mokhtar Annaba, 2025-06-24) BOUGHERIRA, Nabil; NECHEM, D.; BOUGUERRA, H.; HANI, A.; DJABRI, L.; CHAFFAI, H.; OULED MERIEM, S.The aim of this work is to examine a considerable number of bottled water samples (41 brand) to cover the entire range of physic chemical concentrations, given the high demand for bottled water for consumption; the high concentrations could seriously jeopardize the safety of human health due to the nitrates collected during the labelling of bottled waters. Once we examined their physic chemical characteristics, we compared them to Algerian standards for mineral and spring waters, as well as international standards. (O.M.S). subsequently, we analyzed and classified these waters using both hydrochemical methods such as the Piper, Sholler Berkaloff and Gibbs diagrams. Based on their nitrate content, bottled water was, classified according to the nitrate pollution index method. This method plays an essential role in the detection of pollution, which allows us to choose our water properly.Item Impacts and effects of climate variations on the lake fetzara ecosystem (NE Algeria)(Université Badji Mokhtar Annaba, 2025-06-24) DJABRI, Larbi; BOUHALI, Zahra; HALIMI, Fahima; SAIDI, Salwa; BOUGUERRA, Hamza; TACHI, Salah Eddine; BOUGHERIRE, NabilLake Fetzara is located in the extreme northeast of Algeria (Fig. 1). It lies between four municipalities of the Annaba province, bordered to the north by the municipality of Draa Erich, to the south by Ain Berda, to the west by Berrahal, and to the east by El Hadjar. This lake is considered one of the most important in the region. It has been classified as a RAMSAR (international treaty that advocates the conservation and rational use of wetlands) site since 2003, which requires its protection, especially since 17,000 migratory birds representing 15 different species pass through this ecosystem each year. Around 8,000 of these birds are Eurasian wigeons, and 800 are white-headed ducks (a small duck species with a broad, flat, blue bill). This rich aquatic fauna and flora are now threatened by disappearance due to a lack of rainfall, leading to decreased water inflows to the lake, along with deterioration in its water quality.
